Payload CMS Development

Payload is a modern, open source, TypeScript-native CMS built for teams who want full control over their content, their data, and their infrastructure. We build Payload sites end to end, from content modelling through to a fast, polished frontend, typically built in Astro.

Why Payload?

Payload is self-hosted by default, so your content and data live on infrastructure you control, not a third party's servers. It's code-first and TypeScript-native, which means it fits naturally alongside a modern development workflow, and it's built to be extended, so custom fields, workflows and integrations are straightforward rather than fighting the platform.

For teams who want a serious CMS without vendor lock-in, or who have specific data residency or infrastructure requirements, Payload is a strong choice.

What it costs

Because Payload is open source, there's no per-seat licensing fee. Your ongoing costs are hosting and our support, rather than a subscription that grows with your team size. If you'd rather not manage infrastructure yourself, a hosted Payload Cloud option is also available. Either way, we'll help you weigh up self-hosting against a managed option so your costs stay predictable.

Why build your Payload site with ComputerMinds

We're not a headless-only shop learning as we go, we're an established UK agency with two decades of CMS experience, applying the same rigour and honest communication to Payload builds as we do to our Drupal work. No outsourcing, ever, you'll work directly with the developer building your site, based in our Bristol or Coventry offices.

The frontend doesn't have to be Astro either, while it's our usual pairing for fast, content-focused sites, Payload works with any modern framework, so we'll always build the frontend that's the right fit for your project.
