The complexity depends on what you need to bring with you

The process of migrating a site to Drupal doesn’t vary much from platform to platform. Whether you’re leaving Wordpress or Contentful, the outline steps will be roughly the same:

  1. Assess and plan
    1. What functionality needs building?
    2. What content needs building?
    3. Plan the content migration, if needed
  2. Build
    1. Create the Drupal site and all the specced functionality
    2. Make everything look great
    3. Create the content migration
  3. Finalise the content
    1. Run the content migration, if needed
    2. Final content creation and edits
  4. Go live!

Don’t assume anything about this process - our pragmatic team are great at helping you to understand the project complexity, make simplifications and take technical decisions that will help you keep costs down.

Functionality & Content

Drupal can match most CMS standard functionality with ease. But we’ll need to review and plan for any other modules, plugins or custom code that you have. The more complex your site and your content rendering, the more complex the corresponding Drupal build will be. But you have the Drupal community on your side, with thousands of contributed modules ready to provide a large percentage of standard functionality needs.

Content or data migration

If you’re planning to bring your content or data to the new site, we’ll need to build a data migration plan that pulls across all your data and allows time to fix any issues before go-live.

Or, you can the opportunity to start from scratch.

There are also options for pulling in initial drafts of your existing content by scraping your current site.

Taking the site live

On “the big day” we’ll be working hard with you to ensure everything runs smoothly, including any final content changes and any IP/DNS changes.

Once the site is live, we start up your ongoing support and maintenance contract, which reserves a number of hours’ development and support time each month.

We’re also on hand for further training for you and your team.
