Ourpower

Ourpower is the site for self and micro generation, the site connects providers with consumers, and builds communities around micro generation. The site also features a rich editorial section with guides and information on micro generation.

Underlying directory

At the heart of the site is a custom built directory, browsed via a custom google map interface - featuring post code lookups and complex searches (all custom build using the standard form API). Providers update their own details in the directory, taking the workload off the site administrators and helping to keep the directory accurate.

Each user with a site of their own

Each ourpower user has their own section of the site, in which they pick a theme (header image and colour scheme) and add their own images, blogs and case studies. In addition users can track the activity of providers and consumers in their local area through their 'dashboard'.

Revenue generation

Ourpower providers and consumers can opt for different levels of membership and are charged accordingly. Subscription payments are taken via paypal, and the whole thing is driven by Drupal's role based user access meaning the functionality available to each subscription level is easily controlled.

Advanced theming

The design for Ourpower stretched Drupal theming to it's limits, with almost no area of the site left unaltered. The bulk of the work went into the user management side of things, with the standard Drupal user edit form being spread over a number of pages.
